"An enjoyable vacation awaits you very soon."

That’s what my fortune cookie said. Not that I believe in that sort of thing. But three days earlier I was at my computer and… Well, the story really begins about a month prior to that. I went to Portland to visit Jayné. We had a great time. It was probably the best time I’d ever had in Portland. Things were just clicking for us. To top it off Jayné bought her bed. Yes, the British Classics dream bed from Ethan Allen. Of course, it would take 8 to 10 weeks to arrive. We thought it would be fun if I came back up when the bed was delivered to help finish decorating the bedroom, but when it arrived only 4 weeks later I just couldn’t swing the trip. So instead we were online instant messaging each other. I said "This calls for a celebration! Something along the British Classics line" I suggested.

"Whiskey it is then!" replied Jayné. We each poured ourselves a glass of whiskey and sipped it as we chatted. I’ve never had so much fun instant messaging someone before! Somehow everything seemed funny. We began to discuss how she would finish decorating the bedroom. Jayné told me of a poster print she had seen of a photo taken in Paris that she wanted for her bedroom walls. Only it was black and white and she wanted a sepia print.

"Well, we’ll just have to go to France and I can take photos for your walls!" I told her. Some other day, some other time it may have all ended there. Maybe it was the whiskey, maybe it was some other unknown factor, (it was most likely the whiskey) but for fun I went to Expedia online and checked plane tickets to Paris. They were cheap! We began to talk excitedly of Paris and I phonetically spelled out the one sentence in French that I knew by heart. "Où sont les toilettes?" So, five days later we purchased plane tickets to France and I soon found myself on a plane for Paris. Our adventures had only just begun…
